Abstract

An Ordinance to regulate the hygienic requirements for animal and meat examinations. Animals to be slaughtered must be marked so that they can be identified. Moreover, they must be registered for the official examination by the competent authority. The examination of animals to be slaughtered must comply with the requirements set out in Annex 1; also, the examined parts must be marked according to quality. The slaughtering of sick animals may be carried out only in isolated slaughterhouses. According to article 10, meat may be marketed only if it comes from animals officially examined. Furthermore, the Ordinance deals with processing of meat in authorized meat producing plants subject to regular inspections and controls. Article 13 deals with the importation of meat. The Ordinance consists of 20 articles and 6 Annexes: Examination of animals to be slaughtered (art. 1); Requirement for meat producing plants (art. 2); Hygienic requirement for the processing of meat (art. 2a); Attestation for human consumption (art. 3); Examination of imported meat (art. 4); Requirements for fresh imported game meat (art. 5); Processing of meat (art.6).
