Abstract

With a view to ensuring a high level of consumer protection, this Regulation lays down provisions on nutrition and health claims made in commercial communications, whether in the labelling, presentation or advertising of foods to be delivered as such to the final consumer, including foods which are placed on the market unpacked or supplied in bulk. The use of nutrition and health claims shall not: (a) be false, ambiguous or misleading; (b) give rise to doubt about the safety or the nutritional adequacy of other foods; (c) encourage or condone excess consumption of a food.
