Aim of the present law is to establish the competent authorities and specify the procedures for implementing the provisions of Council Regulation (EEC) No. 1906/90and Commission Regulation (EEC) No. 1538/91. It also establishes sanctions to be applied if trespassing of the provisions of the aforementioned Regulations is verified. Article 4 of the law prescribes that an approval for any request to operate on behalf of a poultry meat processing facility shall be granted only if the provisions of the said Regulations are fulfilled. Article 5 designates the Department of Agriculture under the Ministry of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Environment as the competent authority for the purposes of this law. Under article 7 are set forth the designation and competencies of Inspectors. Article 8 sets out the National Laboratory of Reference. Article 10 provides for the establishment of penalties and sanctions. With article 12, the Poultry Meat (Specifications for the Production, Classification, Labelling and Marketing) Law of 2000-2002 and the Regulations issued under of, are hereby repealed.
