The Regulations require animals only to be slaughtered in slaughterhouses for which approval is obtained from the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry responsible for veterinary services. The First Schedule sets out requirements for the construction of a slaughterhouse. The Regulations also set out powers of the Director of Veterinary Service in respect of slaughterhouses and provides for inspection of (emergency) slaughtering and slaughtered animals.
