This Directive shall enter into force on 10 September 1994.
Abstract

This Directive shall apply to food additives which are used or intended to be used as ingredients during the manufacture or preparation of a foodstuff and are still present in the final product, even if in altered form. Only the substances listed in Annex I may be used as colours in foodstuffs. Colours may be used only in the foodstuffs listed in Annexes III, IV and V and under the conditions specified therein. (11 articles and 5 Annexes)
