Abstract This Directive shall apply to food additives which are used or intended to be used as ingredients during the manufacture or preparation of a foodstuff and are still present in the final product, even if in altered form. Only the substances listed in Annex I may be used as colours in foodstuffs. Colours may be used only in the foodstuffs listed in Annexes III, IV and V and under the conditions specified therein.
