Subject Food & nutrition Keyword Classification/declassification Meat Standards Geographical area Eastern Europe, Europe, Europe and Central Asia, European Union Countries Abstract In accordance with Law No. VI of 1993 on the Agrarian Market Regulation, this Decree promotes the production of quality meat and meat products, and applies to slaughterhouses, classifying officers and organs acting in this regard, to breeders of animals for slaughter, and to traders in animals for slaughter. An authorization must be obtained by classifying organs. Requisites which must be met by these organs and officers are comprised in Articles 3-8 and in the Annex. The rules of the classification procedure are also covered by this Decree. The organs responsible for governing and organizing classification and for carrying out other duties connected with classification are the Ministry, the General Inspectorate, the National Institute for Agricultural Quality Control, the competent product council and other organizations and institutes cooperating in training, examination of officers and in data processing.
