This Regulation came into force on 3 January 2000.
Abstract

This Regulation lays down a framework for all structural measures in the fisheries sector carried out in the territories of Member States, with a view to attaining the objectives of the common fisheries policy and particularly the conservation and long-term sustainability of resources. To these ends, the Financial Instrument for Fisheries Guidance may provide assistance for the measures defined in Titles II, III and IV which concern, respectively: (1) Programming; (2) Implementation of Multiannual Guidance Programmes for Fishing Fleets; (3) Protection and development of aquatic resources, aquaculture, fishing port facilities, processing and marketing and inland fishing. The Commission shall be assisted by the institutions referred to in article 23 for the purpose of properly implementing this framework. Further, the following four Annexes are attached: (I) Contents of the Plans; (II) Minimum content of subsequent Multiannual Guidance Programme (MAGPs) for the fishing fleet; (III) Special conditions and criteria for assistance; (IV) Scales and rates of assistance.
