Abstract

Regulation (EC) No. 2792/1999, which lays down provisions relating to the restructuring of the Community fisheries sector, is hereby amended and supplemented. On the basis of new article 2, the Financial Instrument Fisheries Guidance (FIFG) may, in compliance with the conditions established in article 16 of Regulation (EC) No. 2371/2002, provide assistance for the measures defined in Titles II, III and IV of Regulation (EC) No. 2792/1999 within the fields covered by the Common Fisheries Policy. The amendments mainly concern: programming and development plans; adjustment of fishing effort; public aid for fleet renewal and for the equipment or modernization of fishing vessels; special measures applicable to small-scale coastal fishing; socioeconomic measures; compliance with the conditions governing assistance; obligatory financial contribution and State aid. Lastly, Annexes I to IV shall be amended as set out in the Annex attached to the present Regulation.
