Entry into force notes
The present Act enters into force on 1 November 2008.
Résumé

The present Act lays down provisions relating to meat. At the outset the Act contains a definition clause relating to various terms therein employed, such as, for example, “animals destined for slaughtering”, “carcass”, “slaughterhouse”, “slaughter place”, “classification”, “classification firm” and “classifier”. The text consists of 21 articles as follows: Definition of terms (1); Classification (2); Authorization of classification firms (3); Authorization of classifiers (4); Revocation of authorization of classifiers (5); Revocation of authorization of classification firms (6); Competence (7); Duty to notify (8); Labelling of carcasses (9); Duty to give information (10); Entitlement of competent authorities (11); Registration, data transmission (12); Legal regulation in certain cases (13); Fees and costs (14); Dealings with third countries (15); Penalties (16);Confiscation (17); Transitional provisions (18); Repeal of the Meat Act (19); Amendments of Ordinances (20); Entry into force (21).
