Means of identification shall include eartags and, for cattle to be exported to the EU, a cattle passport, i.e. a document issued by the Minister containing the information set out in article 6.1 of Commission Regulation (EC) No. 2629/97. The Minister shall also be the competent authority that approvs eartags for the purposes of article 4.1 of Council Regulation (EC) No. 1760/2000. Moving of an animal that is not properly eartagged from a holding is an offence.
