Abstract

These Regulations, made under section 15 of the Agricultural Product Standards Act, 1990, prohibit the sale of meat that is derived from a carcass which has not been classified in accordance with these Regulations and does not meet quality standards and marking requirements as prescribed by these Regulations. The Regulations define quality classes of carcasses of calf, bovine, sheep, goat and pigs and prescribe quality standards for each class, prescribe rules relative to marking of carcasses with abattoir identification codes and other marks and the marking of meat. They also concern meat imported into South Africa.
