Abstract This Regulation, as in accordance with the provisions of the Law on livestock (Republic of Srpska), determines the procedure for grading/evaluation and classification of beef carcasses and their half-carcasses, including the manner and procedure of their processing, manner for marking of meat deriving from young cattle not older than 12 months, as well as for meat from cattle with weight over 300 kg. These rules are also meant for determination of carcass weight and marking with prescribed markings, among conditions that are required to be met by all authorized persons who carry out procedures of classification and marking of carcasses. This Regulation further sets the conditions that are necessary to be met when importing bovine carcasses or meat, and control over the performance of relevant tasks. Slaughterhouses are obliged to organize the implementation of sorting and marking of carcasses in order to obtain an objective basis for payment of cattle for slaughter and performance of breeding and selection assessments, based on the carcass weight of and on the results of their classification.
