Abstract

The purpose of this Regulation is to ensure fair sales of milk and milk products, including preventing consumers from being misled as to the composition of foods which, based on their labelling, presentation or advertising, can be perceived as milk or milk products. All products produced, sold, labelled or advertised as milk products shall comply with the requirements laid down in this Regulation. The term milk may only be used on a product which comes exclusively from milking one or more mammal animals, without any addition or removal of any constituents. Milk products are products that are based exclusively on milk. The Regulation contains a list of other food product designations that may only be used when based on milk.
