Abstract This Act makes provision for a new administration of irrigation and drainage management in Punjab. The Authority here established shall be responsible for the implementation the strategy of the Government of Punjab for the rationalisation of the drainage and irrigation systems. Powers and duties of the authority are spelled out in detail in section 5. The management of the Authority shall be carried out by the Board of management. The Minister of Irrigation and Power shall be chairman of the Authority. The Authority shall have control over provincial water resources in accordance with previous agreements, except those waters under the control of the Water and Power Development Authority.
