Abstract This Order provides a transitional arrangement for the approval of meat premises and the restriction of export trade in relation with the introduction of the Meat Hygiene Act. The scope of the Act is to secure the hygienic qualities of meat and meat products which are intended for use as food. The Order also appoints the Veterinary and Food Department as the inspection authority for imported meat and the Veterinary Drugs and Food Institute as the central authority for purposes of the European Economic Area Agreement.
