Aim of the present law is to establish the competent authorities and specify the procedures for implementing the provisions of Commission Regulation (EC) No. 2295/2003 and Council Regulation (EEC) No. 1907/90. It also establishes sanctions to be applied if trespassing of the provisions of the aforementioned Regulations is verified. Section 4 of the law prescribes that an approval for any request to operate on behalf of a collector or packing eggs centre shall be granted only if the provisions of article 4 of Regulation (EC) No. 2295/2003 are fulfilled. Section 5 designates the Department of Agriculture under the Ministry of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Environment as the competent authority for the purposes of this law. Section 8 deals with sanctions. With section 10, the Edible Eggs (Specifications for the Production, Classification, Marking and Marketing) Law of 2000 and the Regulation deriving thereof, are hereby repealed.
