Abstract This Decree, issued pursuant to the provisions of article 28 of the Law no. 54 of 1996 on Food (Control and Sale) and incorporating European Directives of the Parliament and of the Council 2001/5/EC amending Directive 95/2/EC on food additives other than colours and sweeteners, and Commission Directive 2001/30/EC amending Directive 96/77/EC laying down specific purity criteria on food additives other than colours and sweeteners, provides for the amendment of the Miscellaneous Substances in Foodstuffs Regulations no. 126 of 2002. The amendments concern: the first schedule of the Regulations, with the replacement of the purity criteria for specific additives; the replacement of the second annex of the Regulations regarding limit on the use of specific substances and the permitted miscellaneous substances; the adding of specific rules on the definition, description and presentation of alcoholic beverages in the sixth appendix and by adding provisions regarding miscellaneous substances; restricted use of colorants.
