Abstract Article 1 determines the maximum number of animals that may be slaughtered. The operation of these small slaughtering plants must be authorized by the competent Food-Chain Safety and Animal Health Directorate. These plants may also process animal carcasses upon authorization of the Directorate. The maximum output of processing activity is determined as well by para 2 of Article 3.
