Abstract This Decree, consisting of 6 Chapters and 1 Annex, regulates the State Secretariat of Environment and Sustainable Development (SEMAD). This environmental institution entitled to coordinate the National System of Environment (SISNAMA), according to Federal Law No. 6.938. SEMAD is responsible to the following activities: planning, organizing, leading, coordinating, implementing, controlling and assessing actions related to this sector and in particular to the protection of the State environment, management of natural and water resources aiming at the sustainable development of the State.
