Abstract This Regulation lays down amendments and addenda to Regulation (EC) No. 1181/2003. Firstly, the title of that Regulation shall be replaced by the following: “Council Regulation (EEC) No. 2136/89 laying down common marketing standards for preserved sardines and trade descriptions for preserved sardines and sardine-type products”. The Regulation shall not only define the standards governing the marketing of preserved sardines, but also the trade descriptions for preserved sardines and preserved sardine-type products marketed within the Community. Article 1a giving the definitions of “preserved sardines” and “preserved sardine-type products” shall be inserted.
