These Regulations shall apply to any type or grade of coffee grown in or brought into Uganda for purposes of marketing, processing or export, but shall not apply to coffee which is brought into Uganda for transit purposes only. The Uganda Coffee Development Authority shall maintain─ (a) a register of buyers of any type or grade of coffee; (b) a register of processors of coffee of any type or grade; and (c) a register of exporters of coffee of any type or grade. Trade in and processing of coffee shall be carried out only with a valid registration certification. The Regulations also concern (criteria and conditions for) registration of coffee exporters, suspension or cancellation of registration, quality control and grading of coffee. No person shall export coffee unless that person has applied for pre-shipment inspection and has been issued with a valid road or rail permit and quality certificate by the Authority in respect of the coffee to be exported. The Regulations also concern the allowed modes of exportation and some other economic aspects of coffee exportation.
