"Crown Dependency Boats" are fishing boats registered under the law of Jersey, Guernsey or the Isle of Man that are not British-owned. "Foreign fishing boats" is defined in the Sea Fish (Conservation) Act 1967. It is a fishing boat that— (a) is not registered in the United Kingdom under Part 2 of the Merchant Shipping Act 1995; (b) is not registered under the law of Jersey, Guernsey or the Isle of Man; and (c) is not British-owned. Certain exceptions on the requirement of a licences are granted for British and Crow-dependency boats (small-scale fishing, fishing for salmon and trout, etc.).
