The drinking water shall: (a) not contain viruses, bacteria, parasites, other microorganisms or substances which, in number or concentration, constitute a potential health hazard, and (b) comply with the limit values in Schedule 1. Water treatment chemicals shall be approved. The Regulation defines various duties of water plant owners in respect of quality of drinking water supply.
