Such organisms, as referred to in article 10 of Council Regulation 2081/92/EEC, are empowered to carry out controls as regards the protection of Protected Geographic Designations (DOP) and Protected Designations of Origin (IGP). The organisms are also in charge of the elaboration and updating of a register listing out the producers which are entitled to produce DOP or IGP. The said organisms, moreover, shall be subject to the monitoring system hereby regulated, in particular as per article 3. Article 5 sets up the Assessment Technical Committee.
