The purpose of the National Framework is to achieve the objectives of the Air Quality Act, 2004, and as such the National Framework provides a medium - to long-term plan of the practical implementation of the Act. The Framework provides mechanisms, systems and procedures to promote holistic and integrated air quality management through pollution prevention and minimisation at source, and through impact management with respect to the receiving environment from local scale to international issues.
