Résumé

These Regulations, made under the Meat Control Act, provide rules for the construction and operation of abattoirs, slaughterhouses or any other place where animals are slaughtered and meat is prepared or meat products are manufactured for human consumption to which these Regulation apply in virtue of a declaration made by the Minister under these Regulations. The Regulation further provide that no person shall slaughter any animal except in a slaughterhouse, require a licence to operate a slaughterhouse, provide for inspection and give powers to the Director of Veterinary Services to issue instructions to slaughterhouses or to close them down in case of non-compliance with these Regulations. The Schedule contains rules relative to construction of slaughterhouses, sanitation, hygienic practices in slaughtering and meat storage, conditions and facilities for meat inspection, disposal of condemned carcasses and parts, marking and labelling of meat and meat containers and record-keeping by slaughterhouses.
