Résumé

These Regulations require importers to obtain from the Director of Veterinary Services a permit for the importation of meat and meat products (as defined in regulation 2). A meat import permit shall be issued in the form set out in the First Schedule. Importers of meat shall apply to the inspecting officer for clearance of imports not less than twenty-four hours before arrival of the goods (reg. 5). This permission may be granted in the form set out in the Second Schedule provided that all conditions for importation have been satisfied. An importation approval mark in the form set out in the Third Schedule shall be affixed on the meat if the inspecting officer is satisfied that conditions are fulfilled. Condemned meat may be confiscated under regulation 8. Other powers of the inspecting officers are set out in regulation 10. Regulation 13 outlines further criteria for decision-making regarding issuing of a permit by the Director of Veterinary Services.
