Entry into force notes

This Law enters into force on 17 November 2012.

Résumé

This Law, consisting of 17 Chapters, establishes the basic legislation on Food as the most essential human need and states that its fulfillment is part of human rights as guaranteed in the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia. Article 3 specifies that food activities are implemented to fulfill basic human need that benefit equitably, prevalent and sustainable based on Food Sovereignty, Food Self-Sufficiency and Food Security. Chapter III deals with the following matters: planning, implementing and controlling activity in preparing, affordability, fulfillment of food consumption and Nutrition, as well as Food safety by involving the coordinated and integrated people. Chapter VII establishes Food Safety requirements. The State has the obligation to achieve availability, affordability and fulfillment of Food consumption that is sufficient, safe and nutritionally balance both on the national and local levels to individuals as well as in entire territory of the Republic of Indonesia at all time utilizing local resources, institution and culture (I).
