Résumé

These Regulations concern compositional and labelling requirements for infant formulae and follow-on formulae (both defined in reg. 3) intended for use by infants in good health. No person may import, keep, manufacture, sell or otherwise distribute any infant formula or follow-on formula, which does not comply with the requirements of these Regulations (reg. 4). Regulation 5 formulates general requirements for the manufacture of infant food. Regulation 6 prescribes compositional standards for infant food, whereas regulation 7 is concerned with labelling requirements. Standards relative to the composition of infant food are laid down in seven Schedules completing the regulations: Essential composition of infant formulae when reconstituted as instructed by the manufacturer (I); Essential composition of follow-on formulae when reconstituted as instructed by the manufacturer (II); Nutritional substances (III); Compositional criteria for infant formulae, warranting a corresponding claim (IV); Essential and semi-essential amino acids in breast milk (V); Amino acid composition of casein and breast milk protein (V); Mineral elements in cow's milk (VII).
