They establish new purity criteria for some categories of additives listed in Council Directive 95/2/EC (mainly emulsifiers and stabilisers) as an addition to those purity criteria already established in the Annex to Commission Directive 96/77/EC for various additives (mainly preservatives and antioxidants).
