Particular rules relating to slaughtering and storage of meat are laid down in article 3. Meat from animals which have not been subjected to ante mortem checks and post mortem inspections, as well as meat from animals suffering from one of the diseases referred to in article 9, shall not be destined to human consumption. Article 12 concerns veterinary checks. Article 15 refers to Community checks that may be carried out by veterinarians under the European Union Commission.
