It defines functions, powers and duties of the Committee. The Regulations also provides that implementation of biosafety practices in genetic engineering and biotechnological work shall be supervised by: (a) the National Biosafety Committee; (b) the regulatory agencies referred to in the Sixth Schedule; (c) the relevant institutional biosafety committees; and (d) the Principal Investigator, and provide rules relative to contained use, import, transit, etc. of GMO's.
