Résumé

The purpose of this Act is to promote sustainable development and reduce negative environmental impacts, and at the same time to promote that environmental considerations are taken into account in planning. This shall be done through an environmental assessment of certain government planning and action plans that are likely to have a significant impact on the environment. The Act further lays down rules describing the role of the National Planning Agency; the duty to present an environmental report; the content of the environmental report; the duty to advertise the report to the public; criteria to be taken into account in the EIA; etc. The Executive may, in a regulation, after receiving the opinion of the National Planning Agency, lay down further provisions on the implementation of this Act.
