Resumen

A piece of basic legislation in the field of electricity production and its organization. The objectives of the present Act are, inter alia, to make available to the people of Austria high quality electricity at a reasonable price; to continue to increase the big part of renewable energy in the Austrian energy production; to take into consideration the safety of the production, the guarantee of supply, and above all the environmental compatibility. The Act contains at the outset a definition clause relating to various terms therein employed such as “production”, “independent producers”, “transmission”, “distribution”, “client”, “ultimate consumer”, “net”’. The text consists of 114 articles divided into 14 Parts as follows: General principles (1); Inner organization and transparency of accounting (2); Electricity production plants and contracts for electricity delivery (3); Operating nets (4); Electricity producers (5); Obligations of suppliers and energy traders (6); Electricity producers (7); Special electricity producing plants (8); Obligations with respect to customers (9); Balance groups (10); Supervising tasks (11); Competent authorities (12); Special provisions for organizations (13); Penalties and fines (14).
