Resumen The present Ordinance lays down provisions concerning the protection of animals at the time of slaughter or killing. At the outset the text contains a definition clause relating to terms therein employed such as, for example, “slaughterhouse”, “accommodating”, “immobilize”, “anesthetize”, “killling”. Article 1 establishes the underlying principle, i.e. that animals when being slaughtered or killed have to be spared unjustified pains, sufferings, damages and fear. Thereafter the text deals with the following aspects: requirements pertaining to slaughterhouses, such as devices and equipment, personnel working in such places, survey and control, slaughtering and killing outside slaughterhouses, special cases of killing. The text consists of 13 articles and 9 Annexes.
