They concern principally public control on water quality supplied to the public and corrective action in case of failures. They amend the Part VIA of the Water (Scotland) Act 1980 so as to address failure in quality of supplied water. Provisions of this Part, among other things, require local authorities to investigate relevant water quality issues to determine their cause and to report the findings of the investigation to Scottish Ministers. The Regulations also amend the Water Industry (Scotland) Act 2002 in relation with notifications of the Drinking Water Quality Regulator for Scotland.
