Abstract

An Act to amend water laws including the Water Utilisation (Control and Regulation) Act, 1974. This Act amends the principal Act: (a) in section 2 by giving a new definition for "Minister", "Principal Secretary" and "undergroundwater"; (b) in section 3 by deleting the word "municipal"; (c) in section 5 by repealing the complete section and replacing it with a new section providing for the establishment of the Central Water Board; (d) in section 7 by deleting the word "quality" and substituting it with the word "quantity"; (e) in section 7 by repealing subsection (2) on the Basin Board and by replacing it with a new provision; (f) in section 18(b) by repealing subsection (3); and (g) in section 33 prescribing offences and penalties.
