Therefore, the purpose of these Regulations is the protection of the environment through: the implementation of a National Policy on waste management; the reduction of direct, indirect and potential adverse impacts of waste on the environment and human health; the development of an integrated waste management framework; the formulation of waste management standards; the implementation of polluter pays principle; the improvement of waste reduction, reuse, recycle system. The Regulations define the following standards: transportation of waste by road and the sea; waste collection, treatment and storage; hazardous waste management.
