Abstract

The present Regulation is made under the Environment Act. The Regulations governs waste management facilities. At the outset the Regulation contains various definitions, such as class 1 waste disposal ground, class 2 and class 3 waste disposal ground, etc. Section 2 establishes that 2 a person must not construct, operate or modify a Class 1 waste disposal ground or a commercial composting facility except under authority of a licence. An application for a licence for a Class 1 waste disposal ground or a commercial composting facility must be made in accordance with the requirements of the Act. The text consists of 53 sections divided into 6 Parts as follows: Interpretation (1); Licences and permits for waste management facilities (2); Waste management facility operating requirements (3); Closure requirements (4); Miscellaneous (5); Transitional and repeal (6). Six Schedules are enclosed.
