Abstract The present Law implements the Federal Animal Disease Act of 1 July 1966 and the Animal Protection Act of 16 December 2005. In particular, the Law lays down provisions relating to veterinary issues in the Canton Obwalden. Article 1 establishes that the Executive Council is entrusted with the responsibility to ensure the correct and efficient enforcement of the federal veterinary legislation. Also the Agriculture and Environment Office is competent to deal with such aspects.
