Abstract The present Ordinance by the Federal Minister for Health and Women lays down health rules concerning animal by-products not intended for human consumption. They restrict what may be done in relation to such products. The Community Regulation categorizes the material comprising or containing animal by-products to which these Regulations apply. It is an offence to categorize, collect, transport, dispose, store, process or use material of specified categories other than in accordance with the following Community Regulations: Regulation (EC) 999/2001 laying down rules for the prevention, control and eradication of certain transmissible spongiform encephalopathies, as well as the Regulation (EC) No. 1774/2002 of the European Parliament and of the Council laying down health rules concerning animal by-products not intended for human consumption.
