Abstract

This Act makes provision for the control of growing and marketing of tobacco. No person shall grow tobacco for sale in any area other than in an area declared by the Minister under this Act to be a growing area. Growers of tobacco shall apply for registration. The Commissioner for Agriculture shall distribute seeds for the planting of tobacco. No person, except with the permission in writing of the Commissioner, shall plant tobacco seed which has not been distributed by or on behalf of the Commissioner in a growing area. The Act also concerns the fighting of pests and diseases affecting tobacco seeds or plants.
