Abstract

These regulations apply to sweeteners which are used (i) in the preparation of foodstuffs to impart a sweet taste to foodstuffs, or (ii) as table top sweeteners. Only the sweeteners listed in the Schedule may be placed on the market or used in the manufacture of foodstuffs. Sweeteners may not be used in food for infants and young children. The purity criteria prescribed by European Community Directive 95/31/EC and subsequent amendments shall be met (reg. 8).
