Abstract

This Scheme, made by the Deputy Minister of Agriculture under section 23 of the Plant Improvement Act, sets out requirements and procedures for the certification of (plant materials of) potatoes by the Independent Certification Council for Seed Potatoes. The Scheme also provides for the accreditation and registration of greenhouses and in vitro multiplication facilities ("units") and measures for the prevention of pests affecting potato plants. The Scheme sets out various rules for the cultivation of potato plants and propagating material and provides for, among other things, requirements for certification, inspection of cultivation units and sampling of plant material, labelling and packaging of seed potatoes and records and returns to be provided by growers.
