Abstract

The 41 rules are divided into 7 Chapters: Short Title and Definitions (I); Rules for licence to Hunt Animals (II); Rules for Fishing in Reserved Forests (III); Rules for Wild Life Sanctuaries (IV); Rules for Restricting Imports and Exports of Animals (V); Rules as to Rewards, Appointment of Game Wardens and General Powers (VI); Penalties (VII). Chapter II concerns licences to capture elephants, licenses for residents and non-residents to hunt protected animals other than elephants everywhere, except in notified wild life sanctuaries, and unprotected animals in reserved forests except where reserved forests are included in wild life sanctuaries, and special licenses for residents to hunt unprotected animals only in reserved forests. Provisions of Chapter III deal with licences to fish in a reserved forest, licence fees and conditions attached to a licence. No cattle may be grazed within the boundaries of specified wild life sanctuaries or within three miles of the boundaries of any of these sanctuaries unless they have been inoculated and marked under arrangements made with the Veterinary Department within the previous twelve months, against anthrax and within the previous two years against rinderpest (rule 29).
