One of the aims of the Regulations is to prevent spreading of transmittable diseases affecting animals. A sterilizing plant means a facility where a process of sterilization is carried out to render a product free from pathogenic organisms. The Regulations also contain rules relative to advertisements for sterilizing plants and sterilization processes for animal by-products. "Animal by-products" are parts of an animal not intended for human consumption.
