Abstract This Regulation of the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Food, which is composed of eight articles, establishes details on organization of the Council of Experts on Plant Health. The Council consists of experts in the field of plant health in agriculture, forestry, science and education, professional references and at least ten years of work experience. The Council issues opinions, suggestions and definitions to specific questions in the field of plant health. The Phytosanitary Administration of the Republic of Slovenia may request the Council to give its opinion on an issue within the specified period. The Council functions as a professional advisory body in the field of plant health, and in particular: (1) advises on the introduction of measures to prevent the introduction, spread and control of pests; (2) proposes scientific and educational activities in the field of plant health; (3) monitors development issues in the field of plant health and proposes priorities; (4) proposes priority risk assessment of harmful organisms; (5) proposes development projects relating to the health care of plants; (6) is involved in the preparation of drafts of legislation; (7) provides expertise to other important decisions in the field of plant health.
