Abstract This Regulation governs the general quality requirements for oil and pomace oil that is marketed for sale to the ultimate consumer, which are related to: a) classification, terminology and definitions of oil; b) the technological processes used in the production and processing of oil; c) packaging and packaging requirements and additional or specific information that should be listed on the labelling of oil; d) physico-chemical and sensory characteristics; e) physico-chemical and sensory properties of raw materials, the type and quantity of raw materials, additives and other substances used in production and processing; f) methods of sampling and methods of analysis of physico-chemical and sensory properties of oil; g) conditions for approval of packaging extra virgin and virgin olive oil, whose names have been registered as a designation of origin or geographical indications; h) the conditions and manner of the form and content of the Register of approved facilities for packaging of olive oil with the registered mark.
