Abstract This Regulation lays down the procedures and principles to be applied in licensing procedures and works and transactions related to licensed products in order to ensure that foods for special medical purposes have the desired effectiveness, safety and required quality. This Regulation shall apply to industrially prepared foods for special medical purposes and natural or legal persons who apply for or have been granted a license for them. This Regulation sets out provisions on the classification of foods for special medical purposes, requirements for pesticides in foods for special medical purposes developed to meet the nutritional needs of infants and young children, license for food for special medical purposes and responsibilities of the license holder, and packaging requirements.
