Abstract

The purpose of the present Regulation is to contribute to good welfare for exotic animals. It prohibits the import, sale, and keeping of exotic mammals, reptiles and amphibians. Exotic animals are considered to be animal species that do not live in the wild in Norway, and which are not traditionally used for animal production, sports or as domestic animals in Norway. The Annex contains a list of animal species that are exempted from this prohibition (snakes, lizards and turtles).
